The Pocket Thich Nhat Hanh (ed. by Melvin McLeod), Darkness Becomes Light


I will let it flow through me, becoming me, letting go of me, passing to the other side and beyond. I will acknowledge it, see it in my mind and soul, know it fully, accept it for what it is, and see it out the door.

If there is need for it, it will be examined and adapted as necessary. Either way, it should not stop me.

This process may be fast or it may take longer — there's no way to know for a particular it — but experience makes it easier, on average. Still, no matter how much experience I have, I sometimes face one that is particularly stubborn. I should not despair for some extra difficulties when they occur.
