250816 What I learned in my studies this morning 5
Today's Meditation(s):
The Pocket Thich Nhat Hanh (ed. by Melvin McLeod), A Life of Miracles
I started the Pocket Thich Nhat Hanh four months ago — 250418 — and found it the simplest, most easily understood exposition of meditation I've seen. And then it got hard.
The Pocket Thich Nhat Hanh (ed. by Melvin McLeod), A Life of Miracles
I started the Pocket Thich Nhat Hanh four months ago — 250418 — and found it the simplest, most easily understood exposition of meditation I've seen. And then it got hard.
Working through this fantastic little book, I learned about Presence and Mindfulness in a way that spoke to me in a deeper way. I learned about commitment to my community and dedication to the principles of Buddhism.
And it's the last part that was hard. Thich Nhat Hanh challenged me to be better. To give up my vices and dedicate myself to the right path. To make more effort to help others and heal divisions. To really live the life of peace and beneficence, valuing other's lives above my own.
I don't know if I'm ready for that. It's scary. It's more than I am willing to give. How can I find the courage to do this next right thing?
